Entrants must complete a Submission form at https://www.simonandschuster.co.uk/p/harrogate-ticket-competition. The form requires them to submit a 250-word personal response on why this opportunity will benefit them on their writing journey.
What is the prize they can win and what is its total worth?The Winner will receive the following prize:
One Weekend Rover ticket to Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Writing Festival from Thursday 20th July – Sunday 23rd July 2023, with access to all 21 events from the main program
Three-night hotel stay at a Festival hotel selected by the Promoter for Thursday-Saturday nights
Full English breakfast on each of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings

The total approximate retail value of the prize is £1000.
Can the prize be substituted or resold?The prize is non-transferable and non-negotiable. No money alternative is available, and no part of the prize may be substituted for other benefits, items, or additions. The prize is also subject to availability, and the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize (or any portion thereof) with an item of equal or greater value.
What are the submission guidelines and content restrictions?The submission must be in English and must not violate or infringe upon the rights of any other party. It must not disparage the Promoter or any other person or party, and it must not contain inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous, or libelous material. The submission must not promote bigotry, racism, hatred, harm, or discrimination based on various factors. It must not contain material that is unlawful or contrary to the laws or regulations of the United States or any jurisdiction where the submission is created. The submission must not promote illegal drugs, firearms, unsafe activities, or any particular political agenda or message. It should be consistent with the image and values of the Promoter and satisfy the purpose of the competition.
How will the submissions be judged?Submissions will be judged by an independent judge based on two equally weighted criteri (i) how valuable the experience of attending the Festival would be to the entrant's current writing projects and (ii) the entrant's understanding of and willingness to maximize the opportunities available at the Festival. Based on these criteria, one winner will be chosen to receive the prize.
