The giveaway is at the bottom of this review. A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would like to review a game on the iPad for the Little Man. On further investigation, I discovered that I had actually already downloaded it a few weeks previously, after much begging and pleading from him. The game is ‘Noddy Toyland Detective – Let’s Investigate’.
I decided to review the game anyway as the Little Man loves it and it was an opportunity to bring all of you lovely readers a fab giveaway. So here we are.

WHAT IS THE GAME ALL ABOUT?
The game is pretty much full of storytelling and chances to be creative. The player, is Noddy and with the help of his famous car and other friends, you get to take part in mini games and activities. You get to search for clues and solve mysteries, and once you have solved all of the clues, you get to retrace the journey, by reading your adventures in a narrated photo storybook! This is so cool!
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?
As if that wasn’t pretty smart enough in itself, you can also create music with a Pirate Band. Paint and decorate Noddy’s car with all different colours and patterns (Little Man particularly loves doing this!). Do jigsaw puzzles and all the while children are increasing their investigative skills by remembering, thinking, listening and making the connections.
THE BITS THE GROWN UPS NEED TO KNOW
Every time you child solves one of the mysteries you can set up email notifications, so that you know there is a new story for you to read together. The game itself has been designed with parents, teachers and children to help with the child’s development. Such as, language skills through reading and storytelling. Memorising patterns and sequences and enhancing their vocabulary.
There is also a handy ‘grown ups’ section where you can store your email address for that handy alert. You can also choose the amount of time that your child plays with the game and obviously there’s a handy ‘help’ section should you get stuck at any time.
SO WHAT DID WE THINK?**
I think this game is brilliant. I love that the Little Man can create these stories and you can actually read them back together. He loves reading the story, knowing that it is uniquely his.
The graphics are fantastic and the colours are out of this world. Even the music isn’t annoying like a lot of children’s games can be.
It’s not just a game. That’s the real part that I like. There is so much within this little app that encourages the kids to learn. I love that games aren’t just games on tablets these days. The things the Little Man has learnt since he has been using apps like this is quite unbelievable. In actual fact, he taught himself how to play this – and then he taught me!
Obviously no review would be complete without asking the main user what he thought, so this afternoon, in preparation for writing this review, I asked him. His answer? “I love it Mummy, it’s great!”
The app can be downloaded on iOS and Android for £2.49. This is the full and final price, there an no annoying in-app purchases and no adverts.
