I am completely obsessed with my Lamy pens and, in my opinion, you can never have enough of them. I remember the first time I saw someone using one, I just knew I had to get one (or two or three…) of my own. DrPen stock a variety of Lamy pens, from basic fountain pens for £14.99 to a more luxurious Scala pen for £85.00.
For the purpose of this review, I was sent a Lamy Joy Italic Calligraphy Pen in black and red. I couldn’t wait to open it up and try it out, I’m a totally Lamy addict!
The Lamy Joy is presented in a red cardboard case with a plastic cover. I really love the black and red colour scheme, it feels very sophisticated and I’m surprised it’s priced at £16.50, I expected it to cost a lot more. Obviously, I couldn’t wait to open it up and give it a whirl, so here’s my first attempt at using it…

It’s such an easy and elegant pen to use; it literally makes writing a joy! I can see already how much I will use this beautiful pen, from writing letters and cards to using it for crafting, it’s so diverse in its uses.
Lamy pens are very lightweight, and I love how they glide along the page. I always use them for writing letters to my pen-friend, and I always feel quite lost in time when I do. I love letter writing and using a Lamy pen always reminds me of the letters I used to receive from my Nan when she was alive. The swirls, curls and elegance they bring to the page; you certainly don’t get that with any old pen.
I absolutely adore the new addition to my Lamy family, and I look forward to extending it once again in the future!
DrPen sell a vast array of Lamy pens, in so many wonderful colours, I’m totally in love with their Al Star in blue green, it’s so gorgeous! To be honest, I’d happily home them all…
